American Migrant Stories
Written, Co-Directed and Produced by Miguel Orozco, the power of storytelling to promote informed immigration policy and advocacy is featured in American Migrant Stories. Using personal stories, the award-winning documentary traces the migrant history of Kern County, California in the 20th and 21st centuries to provide a look into the political environment facing migrant communities in America today. Against a backdrop of broader migration trends in U.S. history, long-time residents and community leaders share their experiences living in Kern County, which gives context to present-day barriers Latinos face in higher education, and in other socio-economic settings throughout the country. American Migrant Stories has been screened at CSU Bakersfield, University of Texas - Austin, Paris, France, and York, England.
